Work experience

Ms. Xiong Yi brings over 10 years of legal practice experience.  Prior to joining Han Kun Law Offices, she was with King & Wood Mallesons in Beijing.  Ms. Xiong has extensive experience in cross-border trade compliance, including import and export compliance management, customs dispute resolution, corporate compliance, and foreign direct investment and M&A.
In terms of import and export compliance management/ customs dispute resolution, Ms. Xiong is familiar with the laws, regulations and practical operations of import and export trade and customs in various business areas, and has solid professional knowledge and rich practical experience in customs supervision, inspection, processing trade, intellectual property rights, administrative penalties, AEO certification and re-certification.  She has handled a large number of import and export tax disputes (including commodity categorization, prices, etc.), as well as customs audit response, administrative reconsideration, administrative penalties, and smuggling cases involving automobiles, iron and steel, electronics, chemical products, and other industries.
With respect to corporate compliance, Ms. Xiong has assisted clients in dealing with numerous internal company compliance system construction, obtaining compliance system certification, conducting internal compliance investigations, and also served as a compliance consulting window for several companies, dealing with daily company compliance reports and compliance emergency issues, in addition to serving as a year-round compliance seminar instructor for several companies, conducting regular compliance training to the company in specific areas of compliance, including anti-monopoly, anti-unfair competition, Anti-fraud (e.g. anti-bribery, sexual harassment and workplace harassment).
In the field of foreign investment and M&A, Ms. Xiong has undertaken numerous foreign enterprises' investment in China, M&A, share transfers, dissolution and liquidation of companies.  Specifically, she has assisted foreign enterprises in setting up joint ventures in China, acquiring shareholdings and drafting transaction documents, negotiating on behalf of the clients and carrying out due diligence on the target companies, handling governmental formalities on behalf of the clients such as the establishment of foreign -invested enterprises and transfer of shareholdings, as well as assisting in the dissolution and liquidation of foreign-invested enterprises in China.

Educational background

Bachelor of Laws degree from Southwest University of Political Science, and a Master of Laws degree from Kyoto University, Japan in 2014.
