Han Kun Law Offices is pleased to announce that Ms. Yu (Joanna) Wang has recently joined the firm. The addition of Ms. Yu (Joanna) Wang will further strengthen and enhance Han Kun's investment funds and asset management capabilities. Ms. Wang will be based in the firm’s Hong Kong office.
Ms. Wang has over ten years of legal experience in investment funds and financial-related matters. Ms. Wang has represented multiple international and regional fund managers in designing and establishing USD and RMB funds with diverse investment strategies. The fund types involved include closed-end, open-end, and semi-liquid types, the fund organization forms involved include partnership, corporate, and contractual forms, and the fund structures involved include master-feeder, umbrella, and parallel structures, among others. Ms. Wang has led the completion of over a dozen semi-liquid private fund projects raised capital from high-net-worth individual investors, covering core Asia-Pacific markets such as China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, India, Thailand, and Taiwan region. The investment strategies span private equity, real estate, credit, life sciences and technology, and other sectors. She has represented numerous investment institutions for their investments in reputable global funds. Ms. Wang also offers full-chain legal services for fund management and operations, including fund management, fund operations, fund compliance matters, and fund interest distribution. Ms. Wang has also handled legal matters related to the application for licenses for commodity and futures exchanges, the drafting of trading rules, and exchange operations. She also provides legal advice on general corporate affairs.
Prior to joining Han Kun, Ms. Wang served as Senior Vice President in the Legal and Compliance Department of Blackstone. She previously worked at the Hong Kong offices of Morrison & Foerster and Shearman & Sterling. Ms. Wang is a member of the New York State Bar. She also holds a PRC bar qualification.
