Han Kun Law Offices is pleased to announce that Mr. Jerald Foo has recently joined the firm's Singapore office as a partner. Mr. Foo's arrival will further strengthen and enhance Han Kun's commercial dispute resolution capabilities.
Prior to joining Han Kun, Mr. Foo served as a Justices' Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of Singapore and as an Assistant Registrar at the Supreme Court of Singapore. He has since been practising law at top international and domestic law firms in Singapore. As a practitioner and former judicial officer, Mr. Foo has vast experience handling complex commercial disputes across different jurisdictions. His areas of practice include cross-border disputes, company law, banking law, equity and trust, joint venture and shareholder disputes, restructuring and insolvency, fraud and asset recovery, employment, international trade, oil and gas.
Mr. Foo is a respected advocate for various financial institutions in banking and other disputes. In project and infrastructure matters, Mr. Foo is a trusted advisor to several of the world's biggest global conglomerates. Mr. Foo is also fortunate to count some of Singapore's most successful listed companies as his clients.
Mr. Foo has tirelessly delivered results for his clients before the Court of Appeal, High Court and State Courts, including the Singapore International Commercial Court. He has also successfully represented his clients in arbitrations on an ad hoc basis and under institutional rules (SIAC, HKIAC, CIETAC, ICC, UNCITRAL, LCIA). Mr. Foo is also often called upon to represent these same clients in court proceedings in support of the wider arbitral proceedings.
Mr. Foo graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law degree (Distinction) from the University of Oxford, where he won a College Prize for Distinguished Performance (Mansfield College). He also obtained a Bachelor of Law degree (First-Class Honours) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, with the John Griffith Prize for Best Intermediate Performance for topping the cohort and Bracher Rawlinns Prize for Best Performance in Conflict of Laws.
Mr. Foo is a member of the Singapore Bar and also a member of the Bar of England and Wales. Mr. Foo's arrival will promote the firm's continuous exploration in cross-border dispute resolution in Singapore and Southeast Asia and enhance the firm's ability to provide integrated and comprehensive legal service to its clients in handling complex and diversified matters.
