Recently, Asian Legal Business (ALB) officially published its list of 2026 ALB Hong Kong Rising Stars, highlighting the most promising emerging legal talents in Hong Kong over the past 12 months. Han Kun Hong Kong lawyer Ming Sum (Sam) Wong was named to the list for his outstanding performance.
Mr. Wong has a broad practice in complex civil and commercial disputes, including international arbitration, court litigation, and regulatory investigations. Mr. Wong has extensive experience acting in arbitrations under major institutional rules, including HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL rules involving various jurisdictions such as the BVI, the Cayman Islands, England and Wales, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States. He has also represented listed companies, multinational corporations, PRC state-owned enterprises, shareholders, and high-net-worth individuals in cases involving shareholder disputes, cross-border and complex commercial disputes, as well as insolvency proceedings. Mr. Wong has represented a diverse clientele including international PE funds, listed companies, global conglomerates, Big 4 accounting firms, state-owned enterprises, and high-net-worth individuals together with their investment vehicles and nominee holding companies.
Mr. Wong is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree with First Class Honours from the University of Hong Kong and ranked second in his class. He also holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge with distinction in corporate insolvency law. He is dual-qualified in both Hong Kong and England and Wales.
The ALB Hong Kong Rising Stars list recognizes rising stars who, through exceptional dedication, keen legal insight, and innovative client service models, continue to solidify their status as future leaders in the industry. The selected lawyers must be based in Hong Kong and under the age of 40. ALB assesses candidates from multiple perspectives, including the major deals on which they advised in the past 12 months, major clients which they served, and public recognition and awards received.
